NICHOLAS OLENICK January 6, 1923 - October 31, 2010 Peacefully, after a courageous battle with his illness, with his family by his side, Nick passed away on Sunday, October 31, 2010 at the age of 87 years. Nick was predeceased by his first wife Marion. Nick is survived by his beloved wife Constance and five children Robert (Linda), Debbie (Lawrence), Kim, Clayton (Gail) and Elliot (Brenda). Nick was a loving grandfather to six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Nick was a decorated war veteran from the Second World War. Upon his return from overseas, Nick began a long career with Nelson River Construction in 1946 and retired after many, many years. A Celebration of Nick's life will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 in the Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 211 Regent Avenue West at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Green Acres Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Nick's name to CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of one's choice.
